8. RACE COURSE
1) MARATHON
South Square of Tianhe Sport Center (Start) → Tianhe Rd. (Eastwards) → Tiyudong Rd. (Southwards) → Xiancun Rd. (Southwards) → Linjiang Ave (Eastwards) → U turn at financial city relief way of Linjiang Ave → Linjiang Ave (Westwards) → Liede Ave → U turn at the top of Huacheng Ave Tunnel → Liede Bridge → West No.2 Rd. (Eastwards) → Yuejiang Rd. (Eastwards) → U turn at the intersection of Yuejiang Rd. and Huizhanzhong Rd. → Yuejiang Rd. (Westwards) → Binjiangdong Rd. → U turn at Binjiang Rd. → Binjiang Rd. → Yiyuan Rd. → Yizhou Rd. → Binjiang Rd. (Westwards) → Hongde Rd. (Southwards) → Renmin Bridge → Yanjiang Rd. 9. RULES OF COMPETITION
1) Race shall comply with the latest CAA consented Rules and Regulations of IAAF, and Guangzhou Marathon 2019.
2) Roll-Call
Participants shall register in the specific areas at the Start (South Square of Tianhe Sport Center) 60 minutes prior to the race start with properly worn race bibs on chest. Elite athletes shall arrive at the designated roll-call area 40 minutes prior to the race start with original personal IDs or Passports.
3) Starting Order
In the sequence of elite athletes, marathon (divided in separate zones) and half marathon, with 10 meters in-between.
4) Start
The Marathon start at 7:30 a.m., and the Half Marathon start at 8:00 a.m.
5) Timing Method
Chip timing service will be provided to all participants. Chips will be activated at the point the participants cross the start line. Timing carpets are placed at the start line, every 5KM point, half point (21.0975KM), turning points and the finish line. Participants shall run through every timing carpet during the race. Those who finish within the cutoff time but without complete record from all timing points will not be qualified for final ranking. Timing chips are released with bibs at Guangzhou Marathon Expo. No deposit is required.
6) Cut-Off Time
In order to provide an orderly organized race, Cut-Off Time is set for each section of the course. Timing carpets at each Cut-Off Point stop working at the Cut-Off Time in sequence, and the section of the course will be re-opened to the public traffic. Those who are unable to complete the respective distance by the Cut-Off Time shall stop racing and leave the course, in case of any dangers. Those who drop out of the race can take event vehicle or take public transportation to the Finish. Chart of Cut-Off Time can be seen as below:

7) Baggage Deposit and Collection
Participants shall deposit personal belongings by the order of bib number at designated area. After finishing the race, participants shall go to respective area for collection. Please do not put valuables in your deposit bags (such as mobile phone, IDs, cash, keys, credit cards, iPads, etc.). Participants are solely responsible for the damage or loss of personal valuables/belongings. Service of baggage deposit on race day will be closed 15 minutes prior to the race start. Please plan your time accordingly. Baggage collection will be available till 14:45 (Half marathon till 12:15) on race day at designated areas. Those who are unable to collect the baggage by above-mentioned time please claim within one week after the race day at the organizing committee. After this one-week, all unclaimed baggage will be disposed by organizing committee.
8) Water, Energy Drink and Refreshments Stations
Energy Drinks will be placed from the Start and every 5KM along the course. One Water/Sponge Station will be allocated between two neighboring Energy Drink Stations.
Refreshment Stations will be allocated at the point of 12.5KM, 17.5KM, 22.5KM, 27.5KM, 32.5KM, 35KM, 37.5KM and finish lines.
9) Temporary Toilets and Environmental Protection
Temporary toilets are settled at start area, en-route (each 1KM along the race course from 2KM point to 5KM point, and each 2.5KM from 7.5KM point to 40KM point) and finish area. All participants are responsible for environmental protection and cannot litter any wrapping paper, bottles and trash.
10) Medical Aid
Medical aid stations will be set at the start area, each 2.5KM from start to 15KM point, each 1.5KM from 15KM to the finish line, and the finish area. On-site medical staff reserve the right to remove a participant from the race out of the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare. Participants should stop racing if ordered to do so by official personnel. Otherwise, participants are responsible for any medical expense incurred.
AED first aid service will be provided along the race course.
Medical aid volunteers will serve at medical aid stations, assisting in medical aid and maintaining race order. Participants can ask help from these volunteers when needed.
11) Doping Control
Doping Control will be conducted according to the CAA regulations and Rules and Regulations of IAAF.
12) Please refer to the Official Program for other matters relate to the race competition.
10. REGISTRATION
1) Age Requirements
l For Marathon, participants shall be at least 20 years old (born before December 31st, 1999).
l For Half Marathon, participants shall be at least 16 years old (born before December 31st, 2003).
*Notes:
(1) For participants who aged under 18, his/her guardian, custodian, or legal representative shall fully understand and consent with the Runner Declaration by signing the document.
(2) For participants who aged over 70, his/her relatives shall fully understand and consent with the Runner Declaration by signing the document.
2) Physical Condition Requirements
Marathon is an athletic sport of high load and great intensity over long distances. It is also a high risk athletic sport which has high physical demands on participants. Those who wish to participant in Marathon race shall be in healthy condition, have experience in running and have completed training with distance over half-marathon. Anyone who has any of the following health issues is not recommended to participate:
(1) Congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;
(2) Hypertension and cerebrovascular disease;
(3) Myocarditis and other heart diseases;
(4) Coronary artery disease and server irregular heartbeat;
(5) Diabetes;
(6) Having cold symptoms two weeks prior to the race;
(7) Other diseases that is not suitable for sports;
(8) Pregnancy.
All participants shall be liable for personal injury and property loss caused by personal health condition or other personal reasons during the event. Before the entry, participants are advised to have physical check-up (including electrocardiographic examination) in qualified medical institutions, and make a self-evaluation to confirm if the physical condition is suitable for the event of their choice.
*Statement: The setting of the courses, Water/Sponge station and mobile toilets are not appropriate for users with wheelchair, baby carriage, roller skate etc. The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify in order to fully protect your safety. In addition, racing wheelchair group is not set in this race, so the result will not be acknowledged if racing wheelchair compete.
3) Registration and Payment
(1) Race Capacity: 30,000 entries. For Marathon, the capacity is limited to 20,000, and for Half Marathon, it is 10,000.
(2) Registration and payment can be completed at the official website of Guangzhou Marathon. Details can be found at Registration Notice released at the official website.
(3) Successful entrants will be notified to check personal race number at the official website.
(4) Race baggage pick-up: successful entrants shall go to the Guangzhou Marathon Expo 2019 to pick up personal race baggage. Details will be released prior to the race at the official website.
Registration Fee: 40 USD/person.
Registration fee is not refundable once the registration is successful and confirmed by the organizing committee.
11. AWARD METHOD
1) Marathon
(1) Ranking Prize
Top eight male and female runners (ranked by gun time) will be awarded with the following bonus respectively (a 20% income tax will be levied). For Chinese runner, equivalent amount of CNY will be given.

*Note:
a. The bonuses will be transferred to the male and female Marathon winners after their results are publicized and they pass the doping test.
B. Each of the top three male and female Marathon runners will be awarded with one trophy and one medal.
c. The runners who finish the race before the Cut-Off Time will be awarded with Post-Race Package and finishing medals.
(2) Awards For Breaking The Race Record (A 20% income tax will be levied)
a. Marathon Male
The runner whose racing time is within 2:10:01 (NOT including 2:10:01) will be awarded with US$10000;
b. Marathon Female
The runner whose racing time is within 2:25:12 (NOT including 2:25:12) will be awarded with US$10000.
c. Special Award For Chinese Runners (ranked by gun time)
The first male and the first female Chinese Marathon runners will be awarded with a special award of 30000RMB (a 20% income tax will be levied).
Each of top three male and female Chinese runners will be awarded with one trophy.
2) Half Marathon
The top eight male and female runners (ranked by gun time) will be awarded with the following bonus respectively (a 20% income tax will be levied). For Chinese runner, equivalent amount of CNY will be given.

Each eligible runner will be granted with a racing T-shirt, a set of bids and a kitbag.
12. PUNISHMENTS
Video recording are monitoring on the entire race course. Participants will be punished as disqualification from the race immediately, barred for race for 1-2 years, barred for life and Chinese Athletic Association may put additional punishments if runners committed any of the followings:
(1) Misrepresentation on age when registration;
(2) Racing with two or more than two timing chips (including one participants carrying timing chip of the other gender);
(3) Racing in relay;
(4) Not following the start order and start at non-designated area;
(5) Against the rules when starting;
(6) Continuing racing after cutoff time or re-enter the course after dropping out of the race;
(7) Not racing along the course. Shortcut or taking public transportation;
(8) Crossing the finish line repeatedly or not completing the whole distance but crossing the finish line to get finisher medal;
(9) Forging bib number or using bib number of other races with timing chip of this race to finish;
(10) Not following with staff order. Rioters who disturbing the race order;
(11) Uncivil behavior;
(12) Other behaviors against the rules.
Consequences arising during the race from enrolling by misrepresentation or transferring entry to another person, both parties will be banned from Guangzhou Marathon race for life.
13. INSURANCE
Insurance will be provided to all participants and race relatives. Please read Specifications of Life Accident Insurance available at the official website of Guangzhou Marathon prior to the race.
