VII. Race Course

(I)Marathon: Huacheng Square (Starting point) → Linjiang Ave (Eastwards) → U turn at Chebei South Rd. → Linjiang Ave. (Westwards) → Liede Ave → U turn at the top of Huacheng Ave Tunnel. → Liede Bridge →Yuejiang Rd. (Eastwards) → U turn at the intersection of Yuejiang Rd. and Keyun Rd. → Yuejiang (Westwards) →Yiyuan East Rd. → Yizhou Rd.→ Binjiang Rd. (Westwards) → Hongde Rd. (Southwards) → People Bridge → Yanjiang Rd. (Eastwards) → Datong Rd. (Eastwards) → Guangzhou Bridge → Linjiang Ave. (Eastwards) → Huacheng Square (Finishing Point)

VIII. Competition Rules

(I)Race shall comply with the IAAF and CAA Rules and Regulations.

(II)Roll-call: Register by event in the specific areas at the starting point (Huacheng Square) from 6:00 to 7:00 a.m., November 23. The race shall fire a shot at 7:30 (one shot only).

(III)Starting order: Runners by event line up in the sequence of Marathon, Half Marathon and Mini Marathon. Elite athletes shall be positioned at the front of the start area, and runners of different events shall keep 20 meters between each other.

(IV)Cut-off time:To ensure a secure and smooth running condition, the competition course will be closed to traffic at each check point during the race. After the cut-off time, the respective check point will re-open to the traffic. The runners who fail to pass through the check point before the cut-off time will be asked to quit the race and retreat from the course to avoid possible dangers. The lag-behind runners shall be loaded by buses the Finishing Point.

The Cut-off Time:

(V)The Organizing Committee will supply chip timing service to Marathon and Half Marathon runners. Runners of Mini Marathon will not be timed. Runners with timing chip must pass all the timing blankets on the ground during the play. If the runner misses any timing point, his / her final score will be null.

The deposit of timing chip will be charged 100 RMB / Person for Chinese runners (including runners from Hong Kong, Macau & Taiwan) and 16 USD / Person for foreign runners.

The Chip Return Desk will be established in the Finishing Points of Marathon and Half Marathon respectively. The runner can return his / her timing chip there to get the deposit in return or return it to the Organizing Committee within two days after the event for getting back the deposit. If the timing chip is lost or damaged, the deposit will not be refunded. If the runner does not return the chip on time, the deposit will be deemed as giving up, and is not refunded.

(VI)Marathon and Half Marathon runners shall place their personal belongings at the Race Bag Check-in Area. Please be kindly noted that the valuables (such as mobile phones, valid documents, cash, keys, laptops, etc.), must be kept by themselves. The check-in personal belongings can be collected at the designated Check-in Area by 15:30 on race day. They also can be collected on the second day at the office of the Organizing Committee. If they fail to be claimed within five days, the Organizing Committee will dispose them as ownerless goods.

(VII) Drinking & Beverage Station and Water & Sponging Station

One Drinking & Beverage Station (offering functional beverage) will be located every 5 km from the Starting Point. One Water & Sponging Station will be served between two neighboring beverage service stations.

(VIII) For detailed information on Miscellaneous issues, please check Runners Guide issued before the race.

(XI) The runners will be sampled randomly for the doping test, which is conducted by the Organizing Committee in accordance with the rules and regulations of IAAF.

(X)The Organizing Committee will make video monitoring over the starting point, the whole course and finishing point. Runners violating the following rules will have their competition scores cancelled. They will not be allowed to take part in Guangzhou Marathon for the next two years, and will be reported to Chinese Athletic Association for additional penalties.

1. Enter false age or displaced by others after enrolment.

2. Carry two or more timing chips for the race.

3. Disobey the starting sequence and get off at the wrong starting point.

4. Jump the gun.

5. Stay in the course after the Cut – off time.

6. Take shortcut, break into on the race and do not follow the course of the event.

7. Pick up the Post-Race Articles by repeatedly crossing the finishing line against the provisions.

8. Fail to complete the whole course but crossing the finishing line for Post-Race Articles.

9. Disobey directions of the event’s staff, and disturb the event’s operation.

IX. Participation Requirements

(I)Age Requirements:

1. For Marathon, participants shall be at least 20 years old on the race day.

2. For Half Marathon, participants shall be at least 18 years old on the race day.

3. For Mini Marathon, participants shall be at least 15 years old on the race day.

(II)Physical Condition Requirements:

Marathon running is an athletic sport of high intensity and great demand of endurance over a long distance which involves a degree of risk. As it raises high demands on the physical conditions, participants are expected to have good health and some running or training experiences. Participants may choose the event among Marathon, Half Marathon, and Mini Marathon, according to their own physical conditions and actual abilities.

Participants with symptoms of the following conditions are not to take part in the event:

1. Congenital heart disease and rheumatic heart disease;

2. Hyper tension and cardio-vascular disease;

3. Myocarditis and other heart diseases;

4. Coronary artery disease and serious cardiac arrhythmia;

5. Hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia diabetics;

6. Patients of other diseases unfit for sports.

All participants shall be liable for personal injury and property loss caused by personal health condition or other personal reasons during the event. Before the entry, participants are required before the entry to have physical check- up (including electrocardiographic examination) in qualified medical institutions, and make a self-evaluation to confirm if the physical condition is suitable for the event of their choice.

(III)Quota of Entry

The overall maximum number of participants for all events is 20,000. For Marathon, the quota is limited to 3500. For Half Marathon, the quota is also limited to 3,500. For Mini Marathon, the quota is limited to 13,000. Entry will be closed until the quota of each event is full.

(IV)Entry Methods:

2013 GAC-TOYOTA Guangzhou Marathon only accepts individual entry. The applicants are required to finish entry online on the official website of Guangzhou Marathon (www.guangzhou-marathon.com). No team entry will be accepted.

When entering, all applicants must read and confirm Participants’ Declaration, Registration Instruction, Entry Instruction, and Possible Risk, follow the procedures to fill in the application form online and submit it. The entry will be completed by successfully finishing online entry fees’ payment. After the entry is closed, runner can follow the official bulletin to log in www.guangzhou-marathon.com, to check his / her bib number, download and print Registration Letter, acknowledge the procedures and requirement to pick up Race Articles.

Athletes, registered with the CAA, shall make their entries by the website of CAA.

The bib number will be released on October 25. The runner can log in the www.guangzhou-marathon.com to check his / her bib number.

(V) Timelines

The entry will be divided into two stages. A certain quota will be released in each stage.

1st stage: From 10:00 September 25 to 17:00 September 30. The quota of 16,000 will be open for entry. Entry will be closed until the quota of each event is full.

2nd stage: From 10:00 October 10 to 17:00 October 15. The rest quota of 4,000 will be open for entry. Entry will be closed until the quota of each event is full.

(VI) Entry Fees

1. Chinese applicants, including people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan: Marathon or Half Marathon: 100 RMB / Person; Mini Marathon: 60 RMB / Person.

2. Foreign applicants: Marathon or Half Marathon: 20 USD / Person; Mini Marathon: 15 USD / Person.

3. The entry will be completed by successfully finishing online entry fees’ payment. Once it is done, the Entry Fee will not be refunded.

(VIII) Special Qualifications for Marathon and Half-Marathon

The Diploma or Result Certificate of past Half-Marathon or Marathon events is required for entering into the corresponding events of 2013 Guangzhou Marathon.

(IX) Race Articles

1. The Organizing Committee will release the official note to inform the runners to pick up their Race Articles, including bibs, timing chips and Runners Guide at the designated place from November 20 - 22. For details, please refer to Race Articles Pick-up Guide .

2. The runners should pick up their Race Articles in person. It is not allowed to be picked up by other person. When picking up, the runner should show his / her ID Card and its photocopy (1 piece), Registration Letter, and Participants’ Declaration with self-signature. Additionally, the runners of Marathon and Half-Marathon should provide their Diploma or Result Certificate of past Half-Marathon or Marathon events and its photocopy (1 piece) for verification. The runners should guarantee the validity and authenticity of their ID Cards and documents.

3. The Organizing Committee reserves the rights not to provide Race Articles for the runners with failed eligibility, false certificates or no previous Marathon experience, and not refund the entry fees.

(XI) The travelling, city transportation and accommodation shall be born by the runners.  

IX.Prizes

(I) Marathon:

1. The top eight male and female runners will be awarded with the following bonus respectively (bonus shall be imposed 20% individual income tax)(in U.S. dollars):

2. The top three male and female runners will be awarded with one trophy and one medal respectively.

3. The runners who finish the race before the cut-off time will be awarded with Post Race Articles.

(II) Half Marathon:

1. The top eight male and female runners will be awarded with the following bonus respectively (bonus shall be imposed 20% individual income tax)(in U.S. dollars):

3. The runners who finish the race before the cut-off time will be awarded with Post Race Articles.

(III) Mini Marathon

There is no awarding for this event.

(IV) Others

Each eligible runner will be granted with a racing T-shirt, a set of bids and a race bag.

XI. Medical Aid

(I) Medical station is available at every five kilometers, and an obvious mark will be set 50 meters before the respective Medical Station. Runners in case of discomfort and other emergency can go to the nearby station for treatment.

(II) The ambulance services are set along the racing track to handle emergency medical situation in time.

(III) The Organizing Committee will arrange a volunteer every 100 meters to 200 meters along the course to support medical assistances, keep the order, and provide help to the runners if necessary.

XII.Insurance

The Organizing Committee will cover all Marathon runners and staff members with Personnel Accident Insurance. Personnel Accident Insurance Instructions can be read at www.guangzhou-marathon.com after releasing the bib numbers.

The technical officials will be appointed by CAA and GAC.
